We have parted ways with our good friend and drummer, Drew Earley. Since January of 2008, Drew was the back-beat of Lingo’s sound. He was constantly studious with intent to continuously refine the boundaries of our music. Above all, we will miss the hard work he put into his time with the band. We wish him the best of luck as he moves back to his hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania to pursue other goals.

We are excited to announce the addition of drummer Phil Washington to the band’s full time line-up. Originally from New Orleans, LA, Phil has been surrounded by music his entire life, having played drums in his church’s gospel choir at the age of 10, and performing in Mardi Gras Parades throughout high school. This experience led to many performances in the French Quarter as well as an appearance at the World’s Fair.

He moved to Houston, TX where he joined and traveled with Vintage-SKV, including a memorable performance at the World Trade Center.

In 2002, Phil arrived in Atlanta, GA where he became a staple at Apache Café, performing with many musicians, including Lil’ John Roberts (Janet Jackson, Goodie Mob, George Duke) and Jorel “J Fly” Flynn (Jill Scott, Gnarls Barkley, Marcus Miller). Following many years in the Atlanta gospel scene, Phil finds himself beginning a new chapter with Lingo.

We are excited about the groove Phil has added to our sound. We have never been more enthused about Lingo happenings, so stay tuned and be sure to come check out a show sometime soon!

Our friend, Ron Currens, at Hittin' the Note Magazine, has reviewed our debut album in the latest issue. This is what he had to say:

This young band has wisdom beyond their years and understands the use of dynamics like few other bands. Brought to my attention by an angel, I eagerly awaited their debut album and was thrilled upon my first listen. Hailing from Kennesaw, Georgia, Lingo is Justin Tramble - Rhythm Guitar and Vocals, Dylan Burke - Lead Guitar, Drew Earley - Drums, and Alex Tramble - Bass and Vocals. It is to their credit that this fine album was recorded by noted Athens producer John Keane (Widespread Panic, R.E.M, B-52s) and features an appearance by Randall Bramblett.

Their sound is a sophisticated blend of acoustic and electric harmonies with poignant songwriting and killer hooks. Their jams always seem to complement the song, a facet much appreciated by the thoughtful fan. They lay down a really funky groove that is easy to listen or to dance to.

Opening the album is the premonitory "Bank the World," an upbeat tune with a chorus warning us about money. "Memory" has a funky sound and laments a past relationship. "You're Lost" is a beautiful ballad, while "Afro" is a long instrumental with a lush psychedelic groove and a trance-like beat. "That Fool" swings and soars with a truly amazing hook and "Agents" explores an upbeat theme that changes on a dime. "Stop" is eminently danceable and "Gold" begins with a swing and then rocks out. Closing the album is "Mighty Plan," an emotional hymn to the power of man.

Weaving throughout the entire album are engaging vocals, driving bass, and tasty guitar work. This group of kids is the Real Deal -- watching them live is a joyous experience!
